The CalypSoul
Regardless of where you see Mark performing, you WILL be amazed at
the content of his show. You'll hear songs and styles you've never heard
before. You'll hear arrangements and medleys that full bands have
difficulty playing. You'll marvel at the CD quality of the sound. And
you'll remember his quirky sense of humor. Catch him now before he
hits it big, because afterward, he'll be impossible to live with.

Having trouble with the video? (Yeah, I know. It's a
pain in the butt to keep having to click the PLAY
button.) Well, you can NOW access a complete music
video (which is just under 100 megs) by scrolling down
and clicking "Coffee Street On YouTube." Some of
you may not know what YouTube is, so this will be a
pleasant introduction to it. In any case, it is Coffee
Street, complete with some other scenes thrown in so
that you AND I do not get bored at looking at JUST the
steel pannist.
Oh, and the NEWEST addition is a project I just
completed a few weeks ago, called the 2007 AUDITION.

Steel Pan Lessons?
I've been asked that question a lot
lately. People want to know if I give
lessons on the steel pan.
Don't waste your money. There are no
steel pan teachers I know of. There is
only one steel pan book (published by
Othello Molineaux) that covers the C
Lead Pan. I haven't seen any books on
the Double Tenor or the Double
Second.

Here's a clue: The pans aren't that
hard to play. Just find the notes (which
is the hardest part) and start learning
songs. The steel pan has a limited
number of notes. No one expects you
to sound like a pianist. You don't even
have to learn chords. I don't use them.
If you have a set, just start practicing.
Of course, it helps if you already play
an instrument and know what you want
out of steel pans. But whether you do
or not, don't wait around for a teacher.
It's a waste of money. The instrument
is still too new.
No-Cookie
Guarantee
While you are surfing this site, AT NO TIME will there ever be an attempt to
place any cookies or other data-mining software on your computer. First, I don't
know how to do it. Secondly, I wouldn't if I did know how. It's not the sort of
thing an artist does to his friends. I also do not try to build bogus mailing lists,
either through snail-mail or E-mail, which means you will not be getting any
spam from this site in your E-mail box. I don't ask for E-mail addresses when I
perform. You only get my website. And through the website, you can find out
where I'm performing, as well as where my CDs are being sold. I don't use a
long list of E-mails to try to con a club owner into hiring me. Most club owners
are smarter than that, and I don't work for the ones who aren't. Of course, you
do know that the NSA monitors this, as well as all Internet communication. Who
knows? Maybe they can help find me a record company.
